What is the Teal Rocks Project?

#TealRocks is a mission to share positive messages to everyone and get information to survivors of sexual assault that help is available.

LaFASA has joined the Fransiscan Missionaries of Our Lady in an effort to multiply our power and our voices. They began the #BRKindnessRocks Project. The goal is to spread kindness, goodwill, and empower Louisiana!

How can you participate?

1. Search various locations for "teal rocks."

Rocks are being placed throughout Baton Rouge at this time, but we plan to expand throughout the state. When you find a "teal rock" post a selfie with the rock or just post a pic of the rock to your social media account of choice with the hashtag "#tealrocks" and if you're in the Greater Baton Rouge area, don't forget to include "#BRKindessRocks." Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are the most popular platforms, but we want everyone to see these rocks, so feel free to drop your hashtags anywhere!

2. Paint your own rock and put in somewhere it can be found!

How do you paint a rock so that the paint doesn't wash away? Check out our Youtube tutorial here.

But, if you want to get the gist right here, it can be done with non-polished, flat rocks; teal spray paint; oil-based paint pens; &  when it's all done, use a clear, glossy coating spray. Be creative. Write positive messages. Draw pictures. Don't forget the hashtag! Write #tealrocks and include on the back.

Place your rocks anywhere you think an encouraging word is needed. It could be in a park. It could be in the plantar of a doctor's office. It could be outside of a courthouse. It could be near a bus stop. YOU get to decide where your encouraging word needs to be seen.

PS: If you find a rock that you need to keep, there is only one rule we ask you to follow. Take the rock, but make a new one and place it somewhere someone needs an encouraging word.
